The Old Nubian alphabet was adapted from Coptic. It died out after the Islamisation of the Nubians, although there is an attempt to revive it for writing the modern Nobiin language (a direct descendant of Old Nubian):



The letterforms presented here (for modern Nobiin) are from Omniglot and directly derived from Coptic. Note the capitals in particular- Old Nubian was generally written unicase, which is one of the major reasons that lead Eujayl and van Gerven Oei, among others, to consider it a child of Coptic as opposed to a straight adaptation.

Here's the same chart using Eujayl's Sawarda typeface, which he designed to be more authentic to handwritten Old Nubian. Note also certain letterforms diverge from those of traditional Coptic:

Do any of you have experience with the ancIBD program? In case yes, here is my problem. I installed the software on my Linux machine without a problem. I ran the exemple files provided without any problem either. As a first exercise, I extracted from Allentoft's vcf (imputed with GLIMPSE, as is required) a handful of individuals (with vcftools). The vcf obtained are of normal size. But when I run ancIBD the vcfs reduced to 1240K, which should logically be even smaller, are huge (more than 30 Gb for chrom1!). This is of course abnormal. Where is the problem?

My father, grandparents, great-grandfather, uncles, cousins, etc were or are all deeply involved in riding and buying and selling horses, mostly quarter horses, so the history of horses is very interesting to me. I created this thread so information about genetics of horses can be posted.

Unfortunately the question of R1a is only shortly touched in the question session.

So I've been trying to run qpAdm models on various Indian populations that are present in the Estonian Biocentre datasets, however these samples are very screwy; they produce nonsensical results, and most confusing of all, the results produced vary between runs, even with the exact same left and right populations.

I don't run into this issue with the Reich samples or with other added samples.
