The ancient W5 thread

This thread is a successor of the same thread in AG and the former GA forum. Its goal is to provide an overview of the ancient W5 samples.

W5 seems to have spread by European farmers in the Middle/Upper Danube region, from where it entered the LBK, Globular Amphora and Funnelbeaker. It ended up in Corded Ware and Bell Beaker populations. W5a seems to have a clear German (Late) Neolithic origin, W5b looks to be both German Neolithic but is also found more west (Michelsberg and Late Neolithic Ireland).

It seems that more W5 is present in Iron Age (Germanic) Denmark and Southern Sweden, including for the first time my own clade W5a2 in Jutland and Zealand (first centuries AD), see also the thread on the new article on the formation of Germanic people:
