What do you got in Y-DNA and mtDNA in 23andME ?
#31
I just got , T for my Ydna and H for my MtDna ......completely useless

I got more out of Natgeno whose snp for me was ahead of any other company for nearly 3 years

I had to do FtDna BigY as 23andme and ancestry are ridiculous

Y-SEQ predicted E-PF2546 so the Y-DNA in 23andMe would be E-M183.

I finally did 23andMe and these were my haplogroups:

Thanks bro, and yeah, I am planning to buy the WGS later when I have bought 23andMe kits for my family.

Thanks bro, and yeah, I am planning to buy the WGS later when I have bought 23andMe kits for my family.

There are 2,039 kits at FamilyTreeDNA that are E-M183 (E-M81). Go to https://www.familytreedna.com/public/y-d...name=E-M81 and look at country report. A small percentage of those are from Family Finder reports but some of those also have Y STR testing between Y12 and Y111.

There are 486 kits at https://www.yfull.com/tree/E-M81/ Do a ctrl-F for id:YF to see the count.

You are at least 3 times more likely to get a match with Big Y-700 at FTDNA than you are if you were to get WGS and upload to YFull. You can get an Big Y-700 then upload the VCF file to YFull and see your matches at YFull that didn't get a Big Y-700 test. If you get a WGS test you can't upload to FTDNA.

But unfortunately Y-big is very expensive 499$ (without file BAM)  , i think WGS is good choice 399-400$ you can get Y-DNA and mtDNA and Autosomal

So it's only 99$ more expensive to have more than a 300% chance of a Y-DNA match in the past 2,000 years compared to WGS and YFull only matches. It's not like he is going to be excluded from YFull with Big Y-700 but he would be excluded from Big Y-700 matching that hasn't done YFull analysis if he does WGS. It's very clear that spending the extra money is a necessity for those wanting matches and/or the most refined haplogroup.

Both typically MENA haplogroups. Not really surprising for a Horner.

Well it has surprised me. The overall frequency of clades under J2a in Ethiopia are next to none. Besides I haven’t found a person of another Horner ethnicity belonging to my specific clade.

23andme determined that my paternal haplogroup is E-CTS736 and that my maternal haplogroup is L1b1a3.

I've also had my paternal haplogroup determined by FamilyTree DNA via their Big Y-700 test, which determined a more specific, downstream subclade of E-CTS736 that I carry: E-FTB87402.

E-M96 -> E-M5479 -> E-P147-> E-M132 -> E-Z958 -> E-CTS246 -> E-CTS10935 -> E-L133 -> E-CTS736 (23andme) -> E-FT216781 -> E-FT215477 -> E-SK573 -> E-FT216959 -> E-FTB87402 (FTDNA Big Y-700).

For me i got E-V257(×M81) and mtDNA V ( ×V1 , V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, V7)

r1b-L238 (1 in 690 now..)

I did ft dna full kit as well, I am within ph1220 for the Y, and v19 final on mt dna. An odd thing with the V groups..they even found it as paleolithic on iberia.
my male group was declared norse by quantity, and I have no norse history. Not even ancient. They did find a Y grave on iceland.  my TMCR is 800 years or more.
my irish is as far north as my line went.. county cork. LOL. We all trace to iberia as well, basque, etruscan etc.

I drop a bomb on more than one fairy tale..french,english, scottish, italian (hapbsburg) and norse king history. Quite bizarre. I am like time stuck in a bottle..on an island.
these generalized results at 23 and me.. it only drives some to go full Y700 and mt dna at ft dna.
