After I made this PCA based on ancient north-Eurasian samples it is obvious that Balto-Slavic drift has HG source (the colours are according to the age of the sample, the pink are the youngest, the yellow are the oldest, orange -> yellow ->green ->blue ->pink ->red):



I made a new HG-BS profile extracting EEF ancestry from my last HG-EEF BSD profile.
Such profile on PCA falls exactly inside the Baltic HG cluster:

Does anyone have any idea which archaeological cultures could be possibly connected to the source of this hunter-gatherer population and its spread in the bronze age?

Dnieper-Donets culture’s Polessye variant and Middle Dnieper culture maybe?
Also the Neman culture influences.

Do you happen to know if any of these cultures are related to Kisapostag or other Carpathian groups? I really can't find any evidence of such connections, I wonder how this realted BSDHG-like group ended up in Transdanubia. Perhaps finding out how the population of the Trzciniec cultural circle and the Transdanubian MBA groups are related could lead us to the ultimate source of this ancestry. Of course more samples from Bronze Age Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus could help a lot, but I don't know about ongoing research on the BA populations of the latter two at all.

They ended up in Transdanubia by crossing the Carpathians, obviously.
Who knows how they were related, but we have a big blank regarding the Belarus and northern Ukraine ancient DNA samples.

I don't think that the Slavs are simply 50/50 mixture of CW and GAC. They need also something from Baltic HG:

I don't think that the Slavs are simply 50/50 mixture of CW and GAC. They need also something from Baltic HG:

Maybe David was distinguishing between the Slavs (of East central Europe ) and Balts? It is from a blog over 6 years ago. David has yet to respond to @ambron's post. It will be interesting to see how he does. I think you post from time time on Eurogenes, correct @ph2ter?
