If enough resolution, I suspect that we will be facing 1/2 specificly successfull subclades of J-Z631 with realtively recent TMRCAs.
Thus, a lot of samples because deep sampling, but probably a lot of redundancy do to the claimed strict patrilineal kinship system claimed in the abstract.

I have no idea. In the abstract they mention four tested sites and all from the Carpathian aka Pannonian Basin. I guess it doesn't get more specific as probably somewhere in modern day Hungary for now.

The percentage of E-V13 is about 7 %, the percentage of other European haplogroups is pretty low. The frequency of J is truly exceptional, more than 50 %, I still wonder whether that can be right. J-Z631 alone makes up more than 19 %.

This is the reason why a looking at many samples in a single cemetery is not useful to know which groups were widespread. There is lot of L283 in those samples, but if I'm not mistaken only in two cemeteries: RKC and RKF, which, if the above is correct, are close together. There are much fewer samples that are V13 all around, but they pop up in HJN, KUP, RKC, RKF (at least two different clades) and RKO cemeteries, so they seem to have been widespread in this study also. The only cemetery with no V13 (up to now) is KFJ which has only N(-Y16313), and no other haplogroup pops up in so many cemeteries.

It's more likely than not in such situations that haplogroups which appear less frequently have a a bit broader dispersal e.g. there were 9 J2a samples - in very different J2a haplogroups - in the latest Avar study and they appeared in 8 different sites.

Still, it might be significant to note that the ability to form large patrilineal groups tends to be a sign of higher social status within such early medieval communities.

This is consistent with the idea that at least the vast majority of J-L283s are represented by a single paternal lineage/clan.
