There was a slight change in one of my Communities. They added the subdivision of England-Scotland Border to my Scottish Lowlands, Northern England & Northern Ireland Community.

They have all of my communities assigned to my paternal line. When the most recent influx of Scottish ancestry comes from my mother’s side of the family. When I compare my communities with my closest maternal and paternal matches. My maternal matches (1C1R & 2C) have the above communities and my paternal matches (2 Aunts & 1C1R) don’t. Which is not surprising because my paternal line started arriving in the early 1600s. While my maternal line came in the mid 1800s.

Sadly for me they've removed two communities and one sub-community, and added nothing new.

Now I've just got one community, North east Scotland and the Northern Isles.

My maternal ancestry is all from a small area of Ayrshire, SW Scotland, going back as far as my paper trail will go.

I still have all the following communities at Ancestry:

Scottish Lowlands, Northern England & Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland & South West Scotland.
West Central Scotland.
Northern Ireland & West Central Scotland.
Down, Northern Ireland & Merrick, Scotland.
Scottish Central Lowlands.

I have no personal connection to the United States, but they give me this community anyway:

Upper Midwest & Western U.S. Settlers.

I imagine these are very distant cousins descended from relatives of my Scottish ancestors.

I don't have a subscription at Ancestry, so all I see now are names of matches and their ethnicity estimates. Because my maternal and paternal ancestries are so different, it's not difficult for me to work out which side someone is on.

I'm unlikely to buy a subscription.

Yes I don’t necessarily think that these results infer ancestry from those regions. I, for example, don’t have ancestry from Munster, Ireland or Connecticut, it’s just that a lot of my matches do.

It works similar to MyHeritage, even a single segment or small number of segments might cause an assignment to a region. At the same time, 50 percent and more of a genome might be lost, due to a lack of suitable reference regions.

Just noticed my mother lost her Scottish Lowlands community as well. Through the genealogical record I know she has quite a bit of ancestry from that area.
