Y-DNA Haplogroups in Your Known Pedigree
#16
(11-30-2023, 01:00 AM)rmstevens2 Wrote: I hesitate to mention this, since I might be jumping the gun, but I saw a new male 23andMe match today with a surname in my pedigree on my dad's side, Pearson, and his ancestry is from all the right places for him to be in my Pearson line.

I sent him a message via 23andMe. We'll see if he answers. If he's like most of my 23andMe matches, he won't answer.

A third great grandmother of mine is Nancy Woodward Pearson (1807-1898), the daughter of William W. Pearson (1775-?), the son of Jesse Pearson (1742-1790), which is as far as I can get on that line.

Anyway, what makes all that relevant to this thread is that 23andMe lists my Pearson match's Y-DNA haplogroup as R-M467, which is apparently the same thing as R-U198, downstream of R-U106.

If the man responds, I'll mention in this thread whatever comes of that. I'd like to notch another Y-DNA haplogroup in my pedigree, but we'll see.

I actually got a reply from the man today. Unfortunately, he does not know. He can't say we're not connected on the Pearson line, but he can't say we are either. He just doesn't know much about his pedigree.

this cool you should doing test WGS , because is very important to know your subclade
There many guesses about what your subclade

Thanks for the info bro; and well, right now I am not into Y-DNA, first I'd try to get our mtDNA from FTDNA.

You are welcome bro , everything in DNA is into (Y-DNA + mtDNA + Autosomal ) are very important
I think your mtDNA possible its Native American mtDNA A2 , C , D

All are Levantines.
Updates:

- My L-M27 ancestors belong to L-SK1437. Based on the upper parallel clades and the Chalcolithic-era Armenian sample I'm guessing the line might be Mesopotamian from antiquity or much earlier (late Chalcolithic upheavel).
- My maternal line's E-V13 is very likely E-V1144.

I haven't tested my own paternal haplogroup yet.
