With minimal amount of research it is easy to see that his relationship to the E-V13 Spencer testers on FTDNA is not genealogically verifiable.

Churchill descends from William Spencer (1496 - 1532) of Northamptonshire (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Spencer-299).

The Spencer's on FTDNA all descend from Gerard Spencer of Bedfordshire (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Spencer-628), which can be traced to John Spencer (1505 - 1558) of Bedfordshire (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Spencer-753).

It's not possible to line up their genealogies to a common ancestor.

It's a possibility that further back, to a time where it's not genealogically traceable, they both share a common ancestor - but it is nowhere near confirmed and saying that he descends from the '4 Spencer brothers' is just flat out false.

The Bedford Spencers are the senior line of the 3 well known Spencers (Bedford, Althorp, Churchill-Spencer). This was confirmed by Earl Spencer on his instagram

Highly likely they are related, unless some of them adopted the surname from female lines, but it doesn't look like the case. Unless you know more than the member of the family himself who proclaimed they are related. Perhaps i mistaked two Williams from Bedford and Churchill-Spencers but these shared a common ancestor anyway. Unless it's proven wrong, which doesn't look the case.

Quote:I sent a email with this question to my cousin.

Quoted from my sage of Spencerology cousin:

"The LINK is "Henry of Badby"....b.c. 1385, died 1476, ie- Henry
SPENCER of Badby (town), Northants.(Northamptonshire county), England,
who married Isabel LINCOLN (heir to her father Henry Lincoln).

The Althorp (diana's line) comes down from Henry's son JOHN Spencer,
and We, (the 4bros./Bedfordshire line) come down from Henry's son
Thomas Spencer.

Then an OFFshoot of the Althorp's is the Marlborough line of Winston
SPENCER-Churchill, and an OFFshoot of OUR Bedfordshire line is the
"Nicholas of Cople" Spencers who came from nearby(to Stotfold) Cople
(town),Beds.(Bedfordshire), whose son Nick, Jr. became GOV OF VIRGINIA
COLONY mid-1600s. That line (Nick's daughtered,then died-out,sadly).

But the remaining 3 lines ---Althorp, Bedfordshire(4bros) and
Marlborough still exist today"

The DNA test is the missing link at the moment unless there's been a recent confirmed test done by a relative of the Althorp Spencers.
