E-V13 - Theories on its Origin and New Data

The Bulgarian LBA samples from the SW are probably less interesting, since they are probably from Encrusted ware contexts, and very WHG like. But still curious to see them.

R1b-PF7562 and R1b-Z2103 mainly, with R1b-Z2103 having a bottleneck during VII B.C. There was no J2b2-L283 noted in Southern Albanian Tumulus, neither E-V13.

As for J2b2-L283 it makes sense, they were part of archaeological complex of Glasinac-Mat people, the Southern Albanian tumulus people were not as important for Illyrians as Glasinac-Mat, they were of secondary importance, so called Matt-Painted Pottery people, they might even as well represent people which were assimilated by J2b2-L283 Illyrians during their EIA-MIA invasion further down.

Encrusted Ware in SW Bulgaria? rafc, are you sure we are on the same page and you are actually carefully reading archaeological papers correctly? Because i have the impression you mix stuff a bit. There was no Encrusted Ware context in SW Bulgaria, they resided in NW Bulgaria/NE Serbia and SW Romania and Vojvodina for a while after they ran away from Tumulus people invasion from Western Pannonia, usually they formed a complex called Szeremle, but there is no traces of Encrusted people more south than that.

SW Bulgaria usually contains tumulus burials like those of the rest of Balkans, likely EBA R1b-Z2103 people which didn't survive or barely survived the LBA-EIA transitional period of invasions.

For example in Northern Serbia Vatin is not considered Encrusted Ware either, Grla Mara is like a mix between Stamped-Ware and Encrusted-Ware influences. Encrusted-Ware was more short-lived until the Earlier Hallstatt cultures (Psenicevo, Babadag, Insula Banului) took over the whole region.
