Do you know why a native Turk would get haplogroup I-Z17855? I'm from the southwest of Turkey with no Balkan ancestry, yet both my haplogroups are slavic in origin.

I know Slavs in the medieval period were settled in places like Nicaea and Balikesir, but I'm wondering if there's a documented settlement of Slavs to Ephesus, Magnesia or surrounding areas (Present-day Aydin).

Well its obvious. You had some South Slavic ancestor 300 or 400 years ago.

Your branch is typical for Western and Central parts of North Macedonia, Western Bulgaria, Southeastern Serbia, and parts of Greece and Albania, although there its probably due to Slavic ancestry.

The Ottoman took a lot of balkan kids to Turkey for their army, one of these balkan kids was your ancestor. The Turkish women found him handsome and he had a big D
