Melungeons & Colonial Mixed Race Families
#1
I haven't come across it very much here but I'm wondering if anyone else on here is of Melungeon descent or from a mixed race family from the early 19th century? I'm from the Chestnut Ridge families in Barbour County, WV and Washington County, OH and related to the Hatfields and Kennedys in Kentucky/Tennessee. We primarily started from mixed race relationships around the American Revolution who then settled together and made an interesting mix of European/SSA/Turkish/Romani. The image is from a write up done on our family in West Virginia.
