Since 8 July we've only added 875...from 578,485 to 579,361 today.
Is the upgrade complete?

They are not done. If you look at your male autosomal matches that aren't autosomal transfers you can see that there are still a lot that don't have a Y-DNA haplogroup. They show N/A.
What is the total Big Y added since July 8?

Not tracking BigY. Looking at my autsomal matches, I have 464 BigY matches. Only 3 BigY matches using y-dna matches

I guess I should have worded it differently or made two different posts.
When I was asking about Big Y I was trying to figure out if the increase of 875 included Big Y.

I'm still waiting on a y-haplogroup assignment for a man with my surname who I know did FF in 2021. Not sure what's taking so long.

"What is the total Big Y added since July 8?"
July 7, 2024 (off by one day)
113,917 BigY
Today July 24
114,420 BigY
Increase, 503 BigY. I think the increase from July 7 to 8 would be negligible.

FTDNA is not done adding Family Finder haplos. But the major part is done.
There are still v1 kits from 2010 to 2014 to finish, although these are very basic. There are also MH v2 kits, which are a bit better but I don't think there are very many. And Verogen kits, which I suspect is also very small.
FTDNA mentioned in a GAP newsletter they were also finishing up V2/V3 kits from some resellers.
There are also a lot of Ancestry and 23andMe kits (if unlocked) to process, but only the uploader will see those.
"If you look at your male autosomal matches that aren't autosomal transfers you can see that there are still a lot that don't have a Y-DNA haplogroup."
Ditto... If I look at my Family Finder R-M269, I still have 75 non-transfers to be updated. Plus all the other haplos besides M269 plus those with no haplo. More importantly, I still have 139 R-M269s with a FF (non-transfers) on my Y12 list to be updated.
I think FTDNA's immediate focus is the MH tree transition. They are also behind a bit from Hurricane Beryl.

I have 13 BigY matches, but 5 of them are BigY500, with plenty of Non-Matching Variants, that probably would not hold up under BigY700.
Thus 8 "quality" matches. But TBH, I recruited, directly (5) or indirectly (2), 7 of them. If I waited for BigY matches to come to me, it would just be one.
But at 8, I am around 14,000 to one. 1 match a year, going forward? (I think it's been 5 in last two years).

Of the 5 BigY individuals on my FGC12384 branch, 100% of them did BigY due to my direct involvement.
1 of them had done 37 marker test and the other had done a 67 marker test prior to me coming on the scene in 2012.
Using the old Ysearch database, I learned the 67 marker fellow had a GD of 10 with my dad, which was the closest match in the database. I contacted him and he agreed to do BigY (and Full Genome Corporation's test). At the same time I ordered BigY and FGC for my dad.
After his results came out, we went 50/50 and paid for the 37 marker's BigY. 37 and 67 marker fellows have a TMRCA around 1600 AD, while my line has a 1284 AD TMRCA with those 2.
Finally, I paid for my own and a close matches' BigY (the man who helped me resolve my patrilineal family mystery).
Not bragging, but there would be no FGC12384 branch in the FTDNA database if I hadn't taken the initiative.
I've pretty much skewed the results on the FGC12384 branch.
My involvement is not unique. Pretty sure rmstevens2 has done something similar.
Probably a good chunk of the these branches are the result of motivated individuals, rather than random chance.
Random chance may be more like 1 out of 114,000 or 1 match every decade.

I get the BigY totals from the Block Y info for A-PR2921
I used the method described by Randal Gibbs in message #350 in this thread.

I wish I wasn't too busy to keep track of both Big Y totals and haplotree totals for all A-PR2921 and for L151, P312, L21, U152, and DF27 as well as some DF27 subclades. We could then see which are getting gains and if from Big Y or FF or both.

maybe this helps. The second set of numbers for June 17 and July 7 are for exact haplotype (not downstreamers) aka Branch Participants
But I dont have BigY numbers.
May 9 June 17 July 7
A-PR2129 364,607 560,940 566,621
M269 137,848 230,216 233,029
L151 124,879 213,806 11,820 216,623 13,330
P312 87,675 141,798 1,445 142,307 1,437
DF27 19,964 31,625 261 31,743 261
L21 47,383 76,986 8,590 77,278 8,589
U106 33,227 57,785 3,644 58,573 4,178
From June 17 to July 7, there was a pretty fair uptick for L151* and U106*. Not so much for others.

Hmm....I should have shown a little more interest in U152. After all, it's my YDNA(M) aka my maternal grandfather's.
U152 is also a major player in my surname project.
